Environmental Remediation plan for the Scala Erre landfill (Sassari Province, IT)

A functional re-use of the entire area as a Multi-disciplinary Research Park in the form of an extensive “open-air workshop” with each area having a clearly-outlined function linked to a specific study sector is planned.
Scala Erre has been devised as a vast natural park providing for a series of possible activities associated with numerous scientific sectors in which interaction between the diverse disciplines represents a singularly compelling feature. Activities relate to topics of interest to the range of studies contemplated, all of which however are capable of interacting reciprocally within the wider context of the environment and sustainable research.
The Research park provides for the distribution of multiple activities and functions conceived in line with the green design project: biolake, experimental areas and vegetable gardens, flower gardens, crops for biofuels, self-sufficient experimental greenhouse, phytodepuration basins, experimental orchard, vineyard and olive grove. This intended use would moreover, in the case of need, allow the facilities to be used as laboratories or conference halls.
